J.B. Pritzker on Friday, July 19, 2024. HB5104 (PA 103-0692), extends the contraction period for a presumptive Duty Disability related to Covid 19. Specifically, the legislation extended the period for contraction from June 30, 2021, to January 31, 2022. The new law establishes that presumptive exposure and contraction must have been documented in the period between March 9, 2020, through January 31, 2022, provided, the presumption does not apply if the fireman was on a leave of absence or otherwise not required to report for duty for a period of 14 or more consecutive days immediately prior to the date of contraction of Covid-19. The Act takes effect upon becoming law. The Board will be working with Staff and legal counsel to determine the process utilized by the Fund to implement this new legislation. It is anticipated that details regarding the Act’s implementation will be discussed at the August Retirement Board meeting. Employer Funding Resolution Annual Contribution Statements Print 172
